#038 ama sakura jinbei set
Jinbei are a casual style of kimono that is perfect for relaxing around the house, at the beach, in summer, and for sleeping. The loosely fit design and string tie adjustments allow babies and kids to wear the same size for 2-3 years.
The string ties make it easy to put on lying down, and the pants comfortably cover babies' diapered bottoms with long crotch to waist design.
All warashi-ko jinbei are made exclusively from hand-dyed textiles made by Japanese artisans using the traditional chusen technique. Unlike printed fabric, textiles dyed with this technique have vibrant colors on both sides and uniqueness are heightened through uses and washes.
The textile is the highest quality 100% tokuoka cotton fabric. As a character of the fabric, it gets softer and softer though each use, and each patterns has a unique name associated with it.
#038 jinbei uses "sakura" for the top and "hitta" for the bottom.
Sakura Classic and brilliant, the colors add sweetness to the whole scene.
Sakura is designed by Yuki Noguchi at Ahiroya. Her intricate designs are based on traditional patterns, as well as her daily experiences. Each piece is poetic and work of art in and of itself.
Hitta The pattern resembles "kanoko" shibori, which is made by wrapping tiny pieces of fabric with thread to make the resist-dye. The subtle pink pallet gives a sweet tone to this textile.
Hitta is designed by Sankatsu. Since 1894, Sankatsu has been specialized in making top-end summer kimono, yukata, using the highest quality cotton/linen textiles. Sankatsu stores over 1000 hand-cut stencils, based on paintings from early 1900s. Every year, they select few dozens of the stencils to restore and to use for production. Sankatsu makes limited tenugui textile editions, using the same stencils and the traditional chusen technique.
Each jinbei is shipped wrapped in soft furoshiki gauze cloth.
